Responsibilities

Expert in history taking, physical examination, test interpretation, diagnostic procedures, patient counseling, differential diagnosis, and therapeutic management of blood disorders and cancer.

Plan, develop, and direct administrative and clinical functions of the Hematology/Oncology division, including support of community‑based outpatient clinics.

Foster excellence in patient care and help the department maintain the highest professional, educational, and administrative standards.

Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical settings.

Collaborate with Orlando VA Medical Center in research development.

Work closely with Advanced Practice Practitioners at Viera and Daytona Beach VA clinics in support of infusion clinic and other clinical duties as needed.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.

Education: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.

Licensure & Registration: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States.

Residency Training: Completed an ACGME or AOA accredited Hematology/Oncology residency leading to board certification.

Board Certification: Board certification in Hematology Oncology required.

English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Provide outpatient care to hematology/oncology patients, including initiation and management of chemotherapy and maintaining proficiency with relevant procedures.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. May be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs.

Pay and Benefits Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays and possible additional absence for CME). Traditional federal retirement (pension and 401(k) with up to 5% employer match). Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long‑term care insurance available.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.

Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Subject to background/security investigation.

Must pass pre‑employment physical examination and flu vaccination program.

May be required to serve a probationary period.
