Job Overview Senior Analyst will assist with Okta’s tax transformation efforts as a member of the Global Tax Compliance and Reporting Team. The ideal candidate is a process‑oriented team builder with technical knowledge of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes, fundamental income tax concepts, and a strong interest in implementing tax technology solutions to improve existing tax processes.
Responsibilities
Automate, streamline and improve our tax reporting and compliance processes, including the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of tax technology solutions (third‑party software, self‑developed solutions, RPA and AI tools).
Prepare the company’s quarterly and annual income tax accrual under ASC 740 with assistance from external tax advisors.
Disclose income tax information in our 10 K, 10 Q and non‑GAAP reporting.
Manage federal, state, and international income tax return compliance processes.
Manage the relationship with our external auditors.
Review and prepare tax workpapers.
Forecast cash tax and income tax expense.
Perform SOX compliance documentation and controls performance.
Develop tax modeling and other special projects.
Support diligence and tax accounting related to acquisitions and corporate reorganizations.
Manage tax controversy matters.
Qualifications
3+ years of combined public accounting and/or industry experience in tax.
Proven experience with tax technology solutions and ERP systems. Knowledge of emerging technologies like RPA and AI is highly valued.
CPA license (or equivalent license).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting.
Strong understanding of ASC 740, including tax rate forecasting/modeling, deferred tax inventory, valuation allowance analysis, FIN 48 and tax footnote disclosures.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and international income tax concepts.
Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred
Master’s in Taxation.
Public company and Tech/SaaS experience.
Big 4 accounting firm experience.
OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax experience.
Salary and Benefits Base salary range: $117,000—$175,000 USD (San Francisco Bay Area).
Other locations: $104,000—$156,000 USD (California excluding San Francisco Bay Area).
