Applied Scientist, Prime Air – Amazon.

We are delivering to customers and are excited for what’s to come. Prime Air is building algorithms, tools and services for orchestration of an autonomous drone fleet. We are looking for an Applied Scientist with background or strong interest in building simulation tools and algorithms for orchestration of a fleet of autonomous delivery drones. Managing a large number of concurrent autonomous drone flights that share airspace with other autonomous or manned aircraft is a challenging problem.
Prime Air will contribute to a portfolio of simulation tools managing concurrent airspace traffic for aviation systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable with a degree of risk taking and ambiguity and able to build consensus on the critical path.
Basic Qualifications
PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of science, technology, engineering or related field experience
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in professional software development
Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
Experience or strong interest in (a) building discrete event simulation tools from first principles (b) air traffic flow management (c) routing algorithms
