Dole Packaged Foods
is a purpose‑led organization championing accessible fruit nutrition and building a brighter future through the goodness of fruit. Overview
The Senior Product Engineer provides application support for North America and Europe while driving governance and stewardship of the company’s global Business Intelligence platforms. The role designs scalable data architecture, builds insightful visual analytics, and orchestrates resilient pipelines across diverse sources, favoring simple, maintainable solutions that can be executed on any platform required to deliver business value globally. Responsibilities
Translate product requirements and Figma/wireframes into accessible, responsive interfaces. Build modern SPAs and SSR apps with React/TypeScript (Next.js or Vite), applying design systems, design tokens, and component libraries (Tailwind, MUI, shadcn/ui). Manage state and data with Redux/Zustand and React Query; craft reusable form and chart components (React Hook Form, Recharts/ECharts/D3). Optimize for Core Web Vitals via code splitting, lazy loading, image/CDN strategies, and caching; support i18n and theming. Champion WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility; enforce UI quality via Storybook, Jest/RTL, and Playwright/Cypress. Explore cross platform surfaces when needed (PWA, React Native or Capacitor) while keeping a single design language. Design and implement REST/GraphQL services in Node.js/TypeScript (Express/NestJS) or Python (FastAPI), with clean layering and OpenAPI/JSON Schema contracts. Build robust data access layers for PostgreSQL/HANA/Snowflake/Big Query; use Prisma/Knex or SQL Alchemy where appropriate. Apply caching (Redis), async/event patterns (Kafka/RabbitMQ), and background jobs for scale and resilience. Implement AuthN/Z using OAuth2/OIDC and SSO/SAML; apply rate limiting, input validation, and multi‑tenant patterns. Instrument services with Open Telemetry (traces/metrics/logs), feature flags, and blue/green or canary deployments. Author high‑quality SQL for complex modeling, transformation, and performance tuning (window functions, CTEs, partitioning, indexing strategies). Ship practical AI assisted features using hosted APIs (OpenAI/Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock) for summarization, document Q&A, and simple classification/translation. Build basic retrieval flows with off‑the‑shelf embeddings and a vector store (pgvector/FAISS or managed options); understand chunking and metadata at a foundational level. Use prompt templates and grounding with approved enterprise context; add light guardrails (input/output validation, PII redaction, rate limiting). Evaluate usefulness via lightweight checks (spot checks, user feedback, simple A/B tests) and track cost/latency budgets. Build and operate services on SAP BTP using Cloud Foundry and Kyma. Use SAP CAP for domain‑driven microservices, SAP HANA Cloud with HDI containers for persistence, and secure apps with XSUAA and Destinations for outbound connectivity. Packaged and deploy as MTA artifacts; manage service bindings, routes, and environment variables via cf/kyma tooling. Qualifications
8‑10 years building production systems spanning data and application layers. Advanced SQL across at least one enterprise RDBMS (e.g., HANA, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, Big Query/Redshift). Professional Python experience for data processing, services, or automation. Proven full‑stack chops: modern front end (React/TypeScript or equivalent) and back‑end APIs (Node.js/TypeScript or Python). Practical OpenStack experience (developing against its services or deploying/running apps on OpenStack clouds). Containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), source control (Git), CI/CD, observability (logs/metrics/traces). Strong fundamentals in data modeling, REST principles, performance, and testing. Preferred: Event streaming & async patterns (Kafka/RabbitMQ), caching (Redis), message‑driven architectures. Experience with one or more clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud‑native services. BI/visualization exposure (SAC, Tableau, Power BI) and semantic modeling. What You’ll Need to Succeed
Passionate about a purpose‑driven career. Committed to respectful collaboration in diverse and inclusive team environments. Proactively seeks feedback and continuously improves work quality. Adheres to ethical standards and maintains transparency. Contributes to achieving collective team goals. Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required. Relevant certifications (OpenStack Foundation, Kubernetes, cloud provider certs) are a plus. Physical & Travel Requirements
Ability to sit and use computer for extended periods; lift 15 lb. and reach overhead. Approximately 10% travel required to domestic and international manufacturing and office locations. EEO Statement
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.
