Job Summary And Qualifications The Corporate Labor & Employee Relations Director, based in HCA Healthcare’s Nashville corporate office, serves as a key HR leader dedicated to fostering positive employee relations and supporting the organization’s labor relations strategy. This role is instrumental in advancing enterprise‑wide goals by acting as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, offering guidance on a broad spectrum of labor and employee relations matters. The Director is responsible for anticipating and addressing areas of organizing vulnerability, developing and delivering training programs, and leading strategic initiatives that align with the organization’s Labor & Employee Relations strategy. In addition, the Director may oversee other Labor Relations professionals, either permanently or temporarily, providing leadership and direction to ensure effective support across markets and divisions. This role will require up to 50% travel.

Major Responsibilities

Lead and advise executive leaders on a strategic response to union organizing. Conduct thorough assessments of employee relations programs, HR practices, and workplace culture. Lead focus groups, analyze feedback, and develop actionable recommendations to strengthen employee engagement, organizational culture, and build resilience against union organizing threats.

Proactively identify locations or departments at risk for union organizing by analyzing employee relations trends, workplace practices, cultural indicators, and through established relationships with leadership.

Assist in the design, delivery, and facilitation of training programs for leaders at all levels, ensuring management is well‑prepared to recognize and respond appropriately to potential union activity and other employee relations topics (policy and legal compliance; employee relations best practices; etc.).

Lead and execute projects that implement the employee relations strategy. Develop action plans, oversee implementation, and track progress to ensure measurable outcomes.

Effectively communicate with facility and local leadership, including presenting findings, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to support implementation of the labor and employee relations strategies within their areas of responsibility. As a trusted advisor, influence and secure support for initiatives that advance positive employee relations.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree required.

Master's degree in industrial relations, labor relations or similar discipline preferred.

Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred.

7+ years of experience in relevant work experience required.
