About the Role MedStar Health is seeking a
Director of Maryland Government and Regulatory Affairs
to support our entities operating in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as suburban areas outside of Washington, D.C. In this role, you’ll monitor and analyze regulations and government policy changes, oversee Certificate of Need applications and other regulatory functions, and help drive MedStar’s legislative and regulatory priorities across the state.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze emerging issues, regulatory trends, and proposed laws to assess their impact on MedStar Health across Maryland.
Conduct policy research and data analysis to craft legislative proposals and inform MedStar Health’s policy positions at the state, local, and federal levels.
Prepare briefing materials, policy analyses, memos, and presentations for the Government Affairs team and internal/external stakeholders.
Advocate for MedStar’s priorities by engaging directly with government officials, legislators, and key stakeholders.
Represent MedStar Health before community organizations, committees, and regulatory or legislative bodies.
Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external partners to support coordinated advocacy efforts.
Leverage strong knowledge and relationships within the Maryland legislative and regulatory landscape to influence policy.
Develop, coordinate, and submit Certificate of Need applications and address other regulatory matters as they arise.
Support departmental goals and compliance, adhering to all policies, quality, and safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health planning, health care administration, or public health required; Master's degree preferred.
8-10 years in Hospital/Health care administration, public health required.
Ability to work with both internal and external constituencies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to quickly analyze legislative and regulatory proposals.
Ability to work in a team-based environment.
