We are seeking an

Environmental Sustainability Manager

to lead the design, development, and implementation of PayPal’s organization‑wide Environmental Management System (EMS). The manager will partner with the Social Impact and Sustainability Team and the Environmental Working Group (EWG) to manage environmental and climate‑related risks, deliver ESG reporting, and support PayPal’s net‑zero targets. The role requires deep expertise in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, R&D, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Essential Responsibilities

Identify and recommend best practices for social impact initiatives.

Lead functional projects and programs related to social impact.

Conduct analysis to understand business trends and their implications for social impact.

Participate in advocacy efforts to influence policies.

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with social impact strategies.

Provide guidance on ESG compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

Facilitate PayPal’s EWG, coordinating monthly meetings, driving initiatives, and cultivating relationships with functional leaders.

Measure and manage climate mitigation outcomes toward the company’s net‑zero by 2040 goal, support new environmental impact objectives, and mobilize company‑wide emissions reduction initiatives.

Coordinate the assessment and management of environmental and climate‑related risks in alignment with enterprise risk management and relevant regulatory requirements.

Prepare and maintain environmental sustainability strategy and annual workplan; execute objectives and report performance.

Coordinate the annual environmental reporting process, including data collection, metrics calculation, quality control, assurance, and reporting for the Global Impact Report, due diligence requests, and corporate disclosures.

Support development and enhancement of PayPal’s corporate sustainability data platform.

Manage budgets, vendors, and contracts for EMS strategic objectives.

Manage policy reviews, reapprovals, change management, training, and communications in alignment with PayPal’s Environmental Risk Management Policy; evaluate adherence and recommend improvements.

Engage stakeholders—employees, vendors, customers, investors, governments—to communicate environmental sustainability progress and plans.

Contribute to employee sustainability activation and engagement in coordination with Communications and Social Impact and Sustainability colleagues; assess outcomes toward a culture of environmental sustainability.

Support Social Impact & Sustainability Team priorities and initiatives.

Expected Qualifications

5+ years relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience in environmental management, corporate sustainability, ESG, or related field.

Demonstrated experience motivating, influencing, and leading cross‑functional teams.

Robust understanding of GHG emissions, energy and renewable energy, water, office consumables, and electronic waste in corporate operations and value chain context.

Deep understanding of corporate environmental reporting frameworks, standards, and regulations such as GHG Protocol, SBTi, EU CSRD (ESRS), ISSB, TCFD, and CDP.

Strong organizational skills—ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience working in a self‑directed and autonomous manner.

Experience working in a global and cross‑cultural context preferred.

Excellent analytical skills, including working with large, complex data sets.

Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to focus on detail while calibrating communication for non‑technical audiences, including executive leaders.

PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation depends on location, skills, and experience. The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $94,000 to $156,200. Total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
