Job Description Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a field-based scientific and clinical expert, engaging strategically with both internal stakeholders and external healthcare professionals to support the dissemination of accurate, evidence-based medical information. Operating as a regional medical ambassador, the MSL fosters scientific exchange and builds collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and healthcare organizations.
In this role, the Senior MSL provides high-level scientific and product support across multiple functions, including Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, and Health Economics and Outcomes research. Leveraging advanced academic credentials, deep clinical knowledge, and specialized expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, the MSL delivers impactful scientific communications and insights to healthcare providers, researchers, and professional societies. These interactions ensure that external stakeholders are equipped with timely and relevant data, while also enabling the organization to integrate field-derived insights into strategic planning and cross-functional initiatives.
The Senior MSL should have an in-depth understanding of plastic and reconstructive surgery and a solid understanding of the relevant surgical setting, disease state awareness, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research. Job Description

Job Responsibilities
Establish and maintain credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national/regional key opinion leaders (KOLs) Healthcare professionals (HCPs), and other stakeholders in the surgical field.
Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, sales, regulatory affairs, and R&D, to provide scientific insights and support strategic initiatives.
Develop and deliver scientific presentations to healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and internal teams.
Participate in the development and review of marketing and educational materials to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance.
Serve as the primary resource for clinical and scientific information to external HCPs and surgeons.
Interact with various customer segments via one-on-one interactions, small group discussions, formulary review committees, and educational symposium presentations.
Attend assigned scientific and medical congresses to capture information relevant to the organization’s scientific platforms and report this information to internal stakeholders during debrief meetings.
Assist in facilitating KOL (Key Opinion Leader) involvement in national, regional, and local educational forums including advisory boards, investigator meetings, educational symposia, and sponsored promotional programs.
Assist in the identification of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.
Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientific research, and publications.

Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree with clinical background such as PA, RN or BSN, combined with significant experience
3-5 years of field-based MSL experience and/or 3-5 years of work experience in the medical device industry
Prior MSL experience or some surgery specific medical device experience or Clinical experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery
Candidates must possess deep therapeutic area expertise and the ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical data, study design, and statistical results.
Strong knowledge of plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures, techniques, and the medical device industry
Ability to interpret complicated clinical and pre-clinical data
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of the US Healthcare System and relevant regulations (FDA, OIG, ACCME, PhRMA)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of clinical trial design and process
Understanding of the US healthcare system, medical practice, and clinical decision making for surgical patients
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree (MPH, MBA, MSN)
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline
Understanding of real-world evidence (RWE) and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR)
