Business Acumen: Able to apply knowledge of business functions, processes and strategies to provide services, solutions and advice that considers and improves the organization as a whole.

Understand core business operations/structure of various businesses.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of business issues, trends and industry economics.

Identify and discuss key financial and non-financial performance measures.

Demonstrate ease with client communications.

Technical Roles a Director May Perform:

Engagement Director responsibilities, including signing audit review and compilation reports, engagement letters, and other correspondence (when applicable).

Written pre-approval by the Client Service Assurance Partner and the Practice Region RTD/RBLL and Practice Office OBLL for the specific assignment before performing duties as Engagement Director.

The Director must have requisite industry experience for the engagement.

Engagements not designated as requiring an IQCR Review in accordance with the BDO Assurance Manual and not associated with a public company within a two-year horizon.

For Concurring Reviewer: written pre-approval by the Practice Region RTD/RBLL and Practice Office OBLL; demonstrate requisite industry experience; engagement not associated with a public company in the near future; avoid serving in another capacity on the same engagement for the prior two years.

GAAP: Advanced knowledge of GAAP principles and ability to apply and document understanding of these principles.

Advanced technical knowledge in one or more areas of GAAP.

Control Environment: Understand how factors affect policies and procedures; identify critical control points; document and validate internal control systems; assess effectiveness; provide constructive improvements.

Document and validate internal control system.

Assess effectiveness and suggest improvements.

GAAS: Advanced knowledge of professional standards; able to teach GAAS procedures and provide guidance; other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Review work, act as Career Advisor, and provide performance reviews for staff as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.

Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred.

Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant audit experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required.

Prior significant supervisory experience required.

Industry expertise in one or more assurance specialty preferred.

Active licensed US CPA; international equivalents or unique qualifications as defined by firm policies; if required to obtain active US CPA license within defined timeframe.

Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred.

Ability to supervise managers, seniors and staff; strong GAAP and GAAS technical skills; industry expertise in a specialized field of assurance optional.

Advanced knowledge of SEC reporting rules if required by specialization.

People development and delegation skills; executive presence; strong risk management decision-making skills.

Able to function as Engagement Director on certain engagements as set forth by policy.

Willingness to get involved with other areas of practice.

Compensation and Benefits Individual salaries offered are determined after consideration of factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. Salary ranges listed in the posting include:

California Range: $176,000 - $255,000

Colorado Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Illinois Range: $170,000 - $210,000

Maryland Range: $165,000 - $250,000

Minnesota Range: $129,000 - $185,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $165,000 - $275,000

Washington Range: $150,000 - $205,000

Washington DC Range: $165,000 - $250,000
