Job Description Americas Gold & Silver is seeking a knowledgeable and results-driven
Chief Geologist
to lead the geology department at our Galena Complex in Wallace, Idaho. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all geological activities, including exploration, resource modeling, grade control, and reconciliation. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding the mine’s strategic development by ensuring accurate geological data, strong team leadership, and alignment with production goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage the site geology team to ensure high-quality geological data collection and interpretation.
Oversee underground mapping, sampling programs, and drilling operations to support resource definition and mine planning.
Develop and maintain detailed 3D geological models using industry-standard software.
Coordinate with the engineering and operations teams to optimize stope designs, production schedules, and resource extraction.
Maintain and update Mineral Resource and Reserve estimates in compliance with regulatory and company reporting standards.
Ensure timely and accurate grade control, reconciliation, and reporting.
Promote and uphold safety standards within the geology department and field operations.
Develop and manage the geology budget.
Support ongoing exploration activities and strategic resource expansion opportunities within the property.
Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
Required: Minimum of eight (8) years of underground mining experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
Preferred: Experience in narrow vein silver-lead operations and complex geological settings.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop high-performing technical teams.
Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, or similar).
Strong understanding of mineral resource estimation, QA/QC protocols, and mine geology practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
