Sr. Regional Environmental Engineer, AWS Environmental Team
Join a diverse, dynamic, and enthusiastic team of environmental professionals who play a leading role in environmental permitting and compliance at Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a Regional Environmental Engineer, you will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site‑specific development strategies, lead environmental due diligence for site selection, and support environmental compliance during design, construction, and operations of AWS data center locations.
Key Responsibilities
Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development.
Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, natural resource evaluations, and noise assessments.
Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on‑time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations and expansions.
Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and other teams to optimize site designs.
Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.
Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations to support environmental permit acquisition and regional development.
Track and report project metrics to evaluate project success.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
7+ years of experience delivering multi‑media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.
7+ years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites.
At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Data center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or risk assessment experience.
Experience in multiple U.S. states (preferably NC, GA, LA, MS, TX, TN, OK, FL).
Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.
Experience with project management software such as Smartsheet.
Up to 25% travel required.
