Physician Assistant, Orthopedics - Full Time - Danbury, CT Completes thorough evaluations of pediatric patients (from neonates to adolescents and young adults) with increasing independence. Recommends broad evaluation based on prioritized focused differential diagnosis and interprets clinical significance of diagnostic study results. Collaborates care with the supervising physician and inter-professional team. Develops an interdisciplinary management plan for common and typical diagnoses. Continues to develop competencies in core procedures.

Responsibilities

Clinical knowledge: Applies an intermediate-level of medical knowledge to common and typical scenarios, incorporating literature to support care.

Diagnostic evaluation: Recommends broad evaluation based on prioritized focused differential diagnosis; interprets diagnostic study results.

Patient history: Gathers, filters, prioritizes, and synthesizes patient history to develop a differential diagnosis in real time for uncomplicated or typical presentations.

Clinical reasoning: Organizes clinical facts to compare and contrast diagnoses, resulting in a prioritized differential diagnosis.

Patient management: Develops interdisciplinary management plan for common and typical diagnoses.

Procedures: Applies increasing competency in array of core procedures.

Communication: Establishes culturally competent and therapeutic relationships with patients/families; communicates with sensitivity and compassion; escalates uncertainty appropriately.

Interpersonal and team communication: Formulates specific questions for supervision and uses bi-directional communication within the inter-professional team.

Practice-based learning: Critically analyzes data and evidence, applies to patient care; seeks feedback and implements learning plans.

Professionalism: Performs responsibilities thoroughly and timely, maintaining composure; seeks guidance in new circumstances.

System-based practice: Coordinates inter-professional patient-centered care; uses resources to reduce health disparities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience : Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program (ARC-PA); at least 2 years of APP experience.

Licensure and Certifications : Current State of Connecticut Physician Assistant licensure; NCCPA certification at time of hire.

Additional Certifications (if required) : BLS and/or PALS; DEA and CT controlled substance registration; specialty-specific certifications as applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Medical knowledge sufficient to navigate barriers; competent core procedures; exemplary written and verbal communication; highly organized; proactive guidance seeking; demonstrates accountability for patient care and team role.
