About the Role As a Backend Software Engineer on the Tools Team, you will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the SEAT Toolbox—an in-house analysis system critical to this specific program. This role involves implementing new features, supporting automated analysis workflows, and collaborating across teams to resolve tool-related issues.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain features for the SEAT Toolbox, originally built in MATLAB, used for log analysis and mission application verification.
Support automated testing and analysis capabilities within the SEAT Toolbox.
Manage GitLab merge requests and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot bugs and provide solutions related to Tools Team deliverables.
Respond to and resolve high-priority issues (PRs) impacting tool performance or team operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
Proven experience in backend software development using Python and/or MATLAB.
Strong understanding of automation and CI/CD practices.
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience maintaining and extending software frameworks or analysis systems.
Familiarity with Bash/Unix scripting and Java/Java Spring for legacy tool support.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Proficiency with Git, GitLab, Microsoft Teams, and Mattermost.

Works independently under general direction; results reviewed for alignment with objectives.
Frequently interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
