Position Overview MPT is seeking a passionate and experienced Marine Engineering Instructor to join our team. This is a full‑time, on‑site role responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction in marine engineering courses, mentoring future mariners, and contributing to curriculum development. You will help students prepare for certification exams and real‑world operations by combining classroom instruction with practical training in advanced simulation environments.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, high‑quality engineering courses that meet STCW and international maritime standards.

Conduct assessments of competence in accordance with approved course documentation.

Help update and develop course materials to ensure content remains current with industry regulations and practices.

Provide hands‑on instruction using state‑of‑the‑art simulation and engineering lab equipment.

Guide and support students throughout their training, helping them prepare for exams and careers at sea.

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or legally authorized to work in the United States.

Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 1–3 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on motor vessels with at least 3,000 kW / 4,000 HP and a manned engine room, or equivalent military experience.

Experience, training, or verifiable instruction in effective teaching techniques or willingness to complete a 40‑hour Train‑the‑Trainer/Assessor course (offered at MPT upon hire; reimbursement may be available).

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching or instructional experience in a maritime training environment.

Strong understanding of international maritime regulations and standards.

Familiarity with maritime simulation tools and training technologies.

Excellent teaching, communication, and mentoring skills.

Experience as a Chief Engineer on motor vessels with unlimited propulsion.

Teaching or instructional certification.
