Senior Technical Project Manager, Video Platform Lead
Group Summary: The NBA’s Direct to Consumer Products, Technology & Operations (DTC PTO) team’s mission is to bring the world courtside by providing the NBA experience for everyone, everywhere. The group creates and manages digital products that extend the league’s global reach from mobile applications to virtual reality experiences. We deliver live games, exclusive content, and experiences to fans across different devices through NBA League Pass, the league’s premium subscription offering, and NBA ID, the league’s membership program. The DTC PTO’s Business Initiatives team is responsible for developing and implementing strategies with a cross‑functional team of digital business leaders to help accomplish key business objectives and metrics.

Position Summary: The NBA is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery and evolution of the NBA’s Next Gen media services platform, the core engine behind our global direct‑to‑consumer media streaming experience. This senior‑level role is ideal for a seasoned project management leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, excels at cross‑functional coordination, and brings a deep understanding of agile delivery within complex technical ecosystems. As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will serve as a strategic partner to engineering, product, and operations leadership—owning delivery of the media streaming roadmap across web, mobile, and connected TV platforms. You will drive project management and day‑to‑day coordination, growth of Agile best practices, and management of high‑impact vendor relationships. You will oversee platform‑level initiatives that directly shape how over 10 million fans engage with NBA content worldwide.
Major Responsibilities
Agile Program Management: Lead agile ceremonies and workflows at the team and program levels; continuously evolve agile practices to meet scale and velocity needs.
Strategic Delivery Leadership: Drive the execution of the NBA’s media streaming and roadmap across multiple agile development teams, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering, product, and operations, ensuring coordination across content delivery, video performance, and monetization initiatives.
Vendor & Integration Oversight: Manage relationships with enterprise streaming and SDK vendors, including CDNs, DRM providers, and analytics platforms; work to manage third‑party integrations to support scalable and secure content delivery.
Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify delivery risks, capacity constraints, and technical bottlenecks; develop mitigation plans in partnership with cross‑functional leadership.
Data‑Driven Reporting: Track and report on program health using the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and other PM tools; deliver executive‑level updates and strategic insights.
Team Advocacy: Champion the needs of agile teams, remove blockers, and foster an environment of transparency, accountability, and continuous process improvement.
Required Education / Professional Experience
5+ years of project/program management experience inclusive of scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
Experience in Digital Media, Television/Broadcast, content streaming, SaaS, or enterprise technology environment preferred
Proven track record of leadership in agile environments with the ability to manage multiple squads and coordinate large‑scale initiatives
Demonstrated success managing complex vendor relationships associated with third‑party integrations
PMP, SAFe, or Agile certification (CSM, etc.) preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Required Skills / Knowledge Attributes
Expertise in OTT video streaming ecosystem and components (video players, CDNs, DRM, analytics, content protection, etc.)
Senior‑level proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and PM reporting methodologies
Exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills at both technical and executive levels
Demonstrated track record as a strong collaborator who seeks to understand cross‑functional viewpoints and business unit goals to influence decision making and project execution

Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000
