Job Summary The Director, Payer Relations has oversight and management of an assigned book of business of payers including Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Blue Cross Plans, National Insurance Carriers, Regional Health Plans, Third Party Discount providers and State Medicaid Plans. The primary objective is to develop and maintain payer relationships through contract negotiations, contract management, and profitability targets related to pharmacy spend and market share. Additional responsibilities include strategic account relations, profitable growth of limited and preferred networks, Preferred Part D networks, clinical initiatives, and Specialty services. The Director will interface with executive officers across the company, including daily/weekly contact with the Executive Director of Payer Relations, Vice President of Payer Relations, Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents in Legal, Retail Operations, Marketing, Real Estate, Specialty and Merchandising.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain payer relationships, including contract negotiations and management.
Achieve profitability targets related to pharmacy spend and market share.
Strategic account relations and profit growth of limited and preferred networks.
Collaborate with executive officers and cross‑functional teams.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of professional experience within Pharmacy Benefit Management or Retail Pharmacy Industry.
Minimum 5 years drafting and negotiating contracts and related financial frameworks.
Structured and logical thinking to identify business problems and develop frameworks.
Analytical rigor conducting and managing quantitative portfolio growth analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Passion for Health Care and desire to strengthen a leading health care company.
Strong communication skills, effective and succinct with diverse constituents.
Team leadership and relationship‑building abilities across the Retail Enterprise.
Influencing skills to guide complex strategy decisions.
Education Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional work experience with years of related education in lieu of a degree.
Pay Range Typical pay range: $100,000.00 - $231,540.00 annually.
The actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors. Eligible for bonus, commission, short‑term incentive and equity award program.
