Helion
Director of Enterprise Software Engineering
About Helion
We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.
Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long‑time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group, as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high‑power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.
This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real‑world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing
You will lead the strategy, design, implementation and operation of Helion's enterprise applications, spanning ERP, MRP, purchasing, logistics, inventory management, manufacturing execution, SaaS solutions, internally hosted systems, and the digital infrastructure that connects engineering and manufacturing. This leader will set the standard for how Helion builds, configures, and deploys systems that enable speed, precision, and predictability across the entire organization. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the VP of Engineering at our Everett, WA office.
You Will
Develop and deliver a comprehensive enterprise systems roadmap that aligns directly with Helion's mission
Partner across engineering, manufacturing, IS&T, and production to ensure our enterprise applications integrate seamlessly across disciplines
Drive system standardization and reliability by designing processes and governance structures
Assess system capability; identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and lower the technical barrier to execution
Lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Helion's enterprise applications and business systems
Manage relationships with technology partners and vendors to ensure Helion maximally leverages existing solutions at a fair cost
Requirements
10+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise scale software solutions
7+ years of experience managing technical teams, including managing managers
Experience leading the development, implementation, and management of enterprise systems, and application teams in fast‑paced, high‑growth, and regulated environments
Demonstrated success developing and executing system strategies that connect engineering, operations, and business functions into a cohesive architecture
Strong technical foundation in enterprise applications (ERP, MRP, Purchasing, Logistics, Inventory Management, Manufacturing Execution, etc), with the ability to guide both architecture and execution
A bias for building scalable, standardized, and low‑friction systems that enable teams to move quickly without sacrificing rigor and balancing technical decisions with business outcomes
