Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – School of Risk and Actuarial Studies Position at UNSW, full‑time, 35 hours per week, tenure track, Level B or C based on qualifications. Remuneration: Level B from $127,947 and Level C from $155,403, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Location: Kensington, New South Wales, Australia (Hybrid Flexible Working).

About the School The School of Risk & Actuarial Studies has an established international reputation for excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Actuarial Studies, risk management, data analytics, and superannuation. It hosts one of the largest actuarial programmes globally and is globally ranked #1 in risk & insurance research.

Why Your Role Matters The School seeks a Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) to develop research, teaching, and industry engagement.

Responsibilities

Engage in individual and/or collaborative research consistent with disciplinary practice.

Publish in strong scholarly journals and contribute to the advancement of disciplinary knowledge.

Conduct research under limited supervision, design research projects, and pursue competitive funding as co‑investigator or chief investigator.

Mentor students, guide HDR students, and support the next generation of academics.

For Senior Lecturers: lead independent research, develop research groups, attract national peer recognition, and obtain research income from competitive grants.

Qualifications (Level B)

PhD in a related discipline (e.g., actuarial studies, economics, risk and insurance).

Track record of high‑impact research and evidence of research excellence.

Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

Active engagement with the profession and industry.

Desirable:

post‑doctoral research experience, industry experience, or an actuarial professional qualification.

Qualifications (Level C)

Experience recruiting and supervising high‑calibre students.

Initiating curriculum development and improvement.

Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.

Ability to interact with industry and attract funding.

Desirable:

post‑doctoral research experience, industry experience, or an advanced actuarial qualification.
