Position Overview
Join the FSG Finance team as a Tax Manager with a strong background in operating partnership taxation. This role will oversee tax compliance, planning, and advisory matters related to partnerships, including complex allocations, partner reporting, and federal and state tax filings, and will lead special projects as opportunities arise. The ideal candidate will be a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and can effectively manage and develop a tax senior, as well as work effectively with the finance professionals throughout our organization.
Responsibilities
Manage and review preparation of over 400 federal, state, and local partnership tax returns, including Forms 1065 and related partner K-1s and K-3s.
Oversee and maintain compliance with partnership tax rules, including Section 743(b), 704(b), 704(c), and partnership allocations.
Provide guidance on partnership structuring, M&A transactions, distributions, and partner admission/exit.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, advisory) to ensure accurate reporting and planning.
Manage tax provision and reporting requirements as needed.
Mentor, train, and supervise a tax senior on tax technical skills and compliance.
Monitor changes in federal and state partnership tax law and assess potential impacts to stakeholders and the business.
Support IRS/state audit defense and respond to inquiries related to partnership filings.
Lead special tax projects as opportunities arise.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in accounting or taxation.
Certified Public Accountant certification.
5–8+ years of operating partnership taxation experience including IRC Section 704(c) calculations and special allocations, partner to partner transactions and capital account maintenance. Additional years of tax experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).
Strong work ethic, reliable, and can work well independently.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Solid communication skills and detail oriented.
Four-day in office requirement per week (company policy).
