Job Title:
Financial Project Manager
Role Overview A mid‑sized enterprise organization is seeking a Financial Project Manager to lead transformative finance and payroll system initiatives. In this role, you will deliver projects that enhance real‑time reporting, improve forecasting accuracy, and streamline processes like onboarding, payroll analysis, and financial planning. This is a highly visible position, working closely with senior finance leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders. The role requires being onsite 4x/week to collaborate directly with finance and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee project scope, timelines, and delivery of budgeting and forecasting enhancements
Lead modernization initiatives including the replacement of legacy reporting tools with scalable platforms
Analyze and improve payroll data flow and onboarding integrations
Act as the bridge between finance leadership and technical teams, ensuring alignment and clear communication
Drive adoption and training for new reporting and forecasting tools across finance and accounting teams
Manage documentation, user acceptance testing, stakeholder sign‑offs, and operational transition plans
Key Projects
Replacement of a legacy BI tool with modern reporting platforms (e.g., Databricks or Fabric)
Design and rollout of future‑state budgeting and forecasting workflows
Enabling real‑time financial reporting and dashboard access
Enhancing HR/payroll reporting and onboarding data quality
Coordinating with PMO and Data Operations teams to align reporting across departments
Education & Qualifications
PMP or Prince2 certification (required)
5+ years of project management experience in finance, accounting, or HR systems
Proven success leading budgeting, forecasting, or payroll‑related system projects
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and partner with executives and finance leaders
Familiarity with enterprise finance systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Hands‑on experience with AP/AR and budgeting modules
Preferred Experience
Prior involvement in replacing or modernizing BI tools such as Cognos
Understanding of payroll workflows and onboarding system integrations
Exposure to organizational change management methodologies (PROSCI, ADKAR)
