Role Overview In this Lead AI Engineer role, you will manage a portfolio of Data Science and AI technical capabilities, projects and products that yield significant business benefits and build industry advantage. You will develop, grow and mentor a team of data scientists and machine learning developers from concept to deployment.
Responsibilities
Design, build and deliver scalable AI capabilities across the insurance value chain – underwriting, pricing, claims, distribution and operations.
Spearhead innovative solution POCs with a strong focus on leveraging GenAI technologies.
Develop, grow and mentor a team of data scientists and ML developers through end‑to‑end AI solution development.
Bridge cutting‑edge AI technologies with business objectives across AXA XL’s business lines to deliver reusable technical capabilities.
Partner with key areas within AI Platforms, Pricing & Underwriting, Transformation & Change Delivery, Group and other teams to make scalable solutions available for projects.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in Data Science and AI through best‑practice tools and techniques.
Qualifications
Hands‑on experience in the full lifecycle of AI technical capability development—ideation, data exploration, model training, deployment, monitoring.
Experience leveraging GenAI to develop and expand AI product portfolios.
Drive best practices in AI and data science, ensuring technical rigor, reproducibility and ethical standards.
Deep understanding of managing AI productionalization through ML Ops, LLMOps, micro‑services, containerization and cloud engineering.
A combination of solid execution, strategic thinking and ability to connect the dots.
Minimum of a bachelor or master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Extensive experience in Data Science, AI or related roles supporting multiple specialty areas of Digital, Data and Analytics.
Moderate leadership experience, leading programs or team members.
Passion for digital, data and AI and experience working within a digital and data‑driven organization.
Compensation U.S. base salary range: $170,500 to $215,000 USD. Pay is based on skills, experience and location with alignment to market and internal equity.
