The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the hotel’s physical assets, ensuring all systems and equipment function efficiently and safely. This role supports daily operations by responding to maintenance requests, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing any issues that may impact the guest experience.
Responsibilities
Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service‑oriented manner, and comply with Peachtree Hospitality Management Standards and regulations.
Maintain regular attendance standards as required by scheduling.
Understand and enforce department policies and procedures consistently with staff.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines, building systems, and building condition in good order.
Assist with preventive maintenance, complete work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and maintaining product quality standards.
Check electrical systems (air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting) and make minor repairs or replacements.
Make routine and major repairs on hotel equipment, including small appliances, kitchen, laundry, boilers, pool, HVAC, hand and power tools, and general plumbing systems.
Service the hotel’s pool: adjust chemicals, clean filters, complete maintenance request forms and logs.
Maintain the building’s exterior and curb appeal (snow removal, lawn care, painting, trash removal, gardening).
Refurbish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, paint and finish as needed.
Respond courteously to all guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
Operate heavy machinery safely.
Repair or replace defective equipment parts with hand and power tools and reassemble equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrections using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
Perform maintenance work orders in a timely manner to maintain guest satisfaction.
Communicate with other departments regarding guest room conditions.
Maintain clean and orderly work areas and storage rooms.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Attend training and meetings as required.
Qualifications
Relevant experience in building mechanical and electrical maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and blueprints.
Hands‑on expertise with hand and power tools.
Physical ability to lift, climb, and work in confined spaces.
Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce them.
