Senior Structural Engineer, PE
– Department: Transportation Location: Orlando, FL
Primary Responsibilities
Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build bridge and transportation projects.
Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through data collection, analysis, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
Prepare written technical reports.
Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and problem solving.
Train and mentor junior engineers.
What You'll Need
B.Sc. from an ABET‑accredited Civil or Structural Engineering program.
Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer registration.
10+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience.
15+ years of bridge design and plans production experience (reinforced concrete, prestressed/post‑tensioned, steel plate, retaining walls, box culverts, sound barriers, etc.).
Experience with bridge design software (FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, FDOT MathCAD worksheets).
Proficiency in Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CAD platforms.
3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus.
Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
Guidance of junior staff and detailed design of multi‑discipline bridge projects of varying complexity.
Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus.
Post‑tensioning and straddle bend design experience are a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
Detail‑oriented team player contributing to a positive work environment.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering.
PE and/or SE certification in Florida or ability to obtain Florida registration.
Familiarity with FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications.
