Child and Family Guidance Center is seeking a client-centered Billing Specialist at our Harry Hines office. The Billing Specialist provides timely billing, follow-up, and final resolution of assigned accounts. Ensures appropriate contractual adjustments are made and researches remittance advice to determine accurate payment levels from payers.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Maintain a professional, patient, and people-first attitude, ensuring all interactions are customer service oriented via verbal, email, text, or written communication.
Review claim entries for coding accuracy before submission.
Assist with data entry of billing transactions as backup.
Complete billing edit reports and correct errors to achieve 100% clean claims.
File primary, secondary, and tertiary claims to maximize reimbursement.
Interpret insurance explanations of benefits.
Post copayments and insurance payments accurately.
Research and correct unpaid claims within payer-specific timely filing guidelines.
Contact insurance companies to resolve billing issues and follow up on denials.
Meet regularly with the Billing Manager to discuss reimbursement issues and billing obstacles.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Meet weekly and / or individual and team targets.
Minimum Requirements :
Experience with Managed Care Organization (MCO), Medicaid, and behavioral health billing; proficient in CPT, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
At least 3 years of healthcare billing and collection experience, including Medicaid / Medicare and commercial insurance billing. Behavioral health / outpatient experience preferred. Credentialing knowledge is a plus.
Proficiency in medical record software, hardware, word-processing, and database programs; minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
Minimum of 3 years in full revenue cycle billing; computer literate with problem-solving skills; well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks independently or as part of a team.
Educational Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Skills :
Ability to learn and apply basic medical terminologies and techniques.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Keyboard proficiency (~50 words / minute).
Proficiency in operating computers and related software.
Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
Problem-solving under pressure.
Professional communication and interaction skills.
Understanding and commitment to protecting confidential patient information, with HIPAA-secure telecommuting environment.
Physical Demands :
Full-time hours : Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM.
Ability to view monitors with good vision, operate a computer for extended periods, and sit up to 90% of the time.
Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs (up to 10%), and listen / speak clearly as needed.
