Seeking a role where your skills ensure the reliability of mission-critical databases? As a Senior Database Administrator at Spectrum, you will design, implement and maintain robust production and non-production databases, supporting business continuity and data accessibility while leveraging expertise in AWS, MongoDB, and Cassandra to manage and optimize our database environments. Ideally, you will have a strong background in cloud-based and NoSQL databases, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability while supporting our data-driven initiatives.

Your technical acumen and mentorship will strengthen Spectrum’s database operations, driving effective solutions across our technology landscape.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Perform installations and configurations of grid infrastructure, databases, clients etc. Design and maintain access and security administration, backup and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems

Support multiple services and multiple databases of medium complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data

Design, install, configure and maintain High Availability (RAC, RAC One Node, Data Guard etc.) Database solutions

Expertise in setup using OEM as a monitoring and diagnostics tool and identifies/resolves the performance issues

Troubleshoot alerts (alert log, Jobs, Disk Group, Tablespace etc.) and performance issues

Perform capacity planning of Oracle server environment and provides recommendations to management to sustain business growth

Design, implement, maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies and create documentation

Gather business requirements and designs, implement multiple projects along with the production support

Create standard operational procedures and templates

Act as mentor for Database Administrators and Associate Database Administrators

Perform research and provide plans to remediate complex business problems

Assist the development teams to improve database design and procedures on PL/SQL best practices etc

Administer, maintain, and optimize databases across AWS, MongoDB, and Cassandra environments

Leverage AWS services (RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift) to enhance database performance and scalability

Implement and manage MongoDB and Cassandra databases, ensuring data integrity and high availability

Monitor database performance, analyze query efficiency, and implement tuning strategies to optimize resource utilization

Develop and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to protect data and ensure business continuity

Implement robust security measures and compliance frameworks to safeguard sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance

Utilize monitoring tools to track database health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal operation

Assist in migrating databases to cloud environments and support integration with applications

Work closely with development and IT teams to support database needs and implement best practices.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience

Experience

6+ years of experience working with AWS and various database management systems in testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment

Skills

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Demonstrated knowledge of database architecture and its implementation, understanding of best practices in maintaining medium to large scale Oracle database systems

Demonstrated knowledge of PL/SQL programming language, Change Management procedures

Demonstrated knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application

Demonstrated understanding of SAN technologies related to SQL server disk layouts; Windows/Linux/Solaris operating systems and shell scripting

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner with all levels of management and company personnel

Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple projects and tasks

Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties while working under pressure

Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)

Ability to work independently or with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations

Ability to effectively consult with department managers and leaders

Preferred Qualifications Education

Relevant certifications in AWS, MongoDB, or Cassandra are a plus

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex database challenges

Experience in communication, level setting expectations, and driving deliverables with a team

Proficient in AWS database services such as RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift.

In-depth understanding of MongoDB and Cassandra architectures and administration

Strong skills in optimizing database performance and query efficiency.

Experience with data security best practices and automation using scripting languages like Python or Bash

Familiarity with database monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, DataDog, or Prometheus

Proven experience in managing cloud-based and NoSQL databases in enterprise environments

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

The base pay for this position generally is between

$77,900.00 and $140,470.00 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
