Camperdown Academy is a non-profit organization providing excellence in the education of dyslexic children with a day school for grades one through eight, and training and outreach services provided to teachers and professionals across the region. Specific and specialized teaching approaches are shared through outreach efforts and administered in small group settings with an emphasis on individualized instruction.
Position Summary The Director of Technology provides leadership and hands‑on management for all aspects of the school’s technology infrastructure, systems, and digital learning environment. This position oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of technology resources that support teaching, learning, and operations across the school. The Director ensures that technology systems are secure, reliable, and effectively meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
Key Responsibilities
Network and System Administration
Manage and maintain servers, including DHCP, DNS, IIS, Active Directory, file servers, and Linux/MacOS systems.
Oversee wired and wireless network infrastructure, including switching, routing, and cabling.
Ensure network reliability performance and security across all systems and devices.
Cloud and Application Management
Administer cloud-based services including Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, and other SaaS platforms such as RenWeb.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and integrations across multiple platforms.
Support and oversee educational tools including GoGuardian and other classroom management or content filtering systems.
Software Development and Automation
Design and maintain custom applications and scripts to support school operations using PHP, MySQL, and Python.
Automate data workflows and reporting between systems such as RenWeb, Google Workspace, and internal databases.
Troubleshoot and optimize existing web tools, dashboards, and integrations to improve efficiency.
Device and User Support
Manage the school’s 1:1 Chromebook program, including procurement, deployment, configuration, and support.
Provide direct technical support to faculty, staff, and students as needed.
Oversee technology inventory, licensing, and warranties.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Develop and implement technology plans aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
Establish and maintain technology policies, security protocols, and best practices.
Collaborate with school leadership to evaluate emerging technologies and their potential benefit to instruction and operations.
Training and Communication
Provide training and documentation for staff on new systems, tools, and best practices.
Communicate effectively with administration, faculty, and parents about technology initiatives and support issues.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience managing mixed-OS environments (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Strong knowledge of Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft 365 administration.
Proven experience with network infrastructure (switching, wiring, and access point configuration).
Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and Python scripting for automation or system integration.
Familiarity with K-12 technology systems, RenWeb, and Chromebook management preferred.
Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
