Job Description Associate Traffic Engineer – Indianapolis, IN
Parsons is seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our growing Indianapolis office and contribute to the design of transportation and traffic systems for regional and national projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands‑on experience, work on impactful projects, and grow within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
Contributing to traffic engineering plans, signing & markings, and lighting plans
Collaborating with CAD designers, engineers, and clients to deliver high‑quality solutions
Developing traffic analysis and associated write‑up for traffic reports
Developing crash analyses and associated write‑ups to be used in engineer reports, level 1 design exceptions, etc.
Developing traffic design base designs in MicroStation and ORD
Preparing quantity calculations, technical reports, cost estimates and engineering analyses
Review supplier drawing submittals and assist in performing technical bid analyses
Provide input and guidance to CAD designers and interns
Perform other responsibilities as required to support project success
What Qualifications You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field)
0–2 years of related work experience (new graduates are welcome to apply)
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification is preferred
Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Excel is a plus
Previous internship or project experience with transportation or traffic engineering projects is desirable
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Basic knowledge of engineering principles and CAD tools
