Job Description The Lead Systems Integration Engineer will play a vital role within the advanced technology organization. This role will lead integration and verification activities for cutting‑edge advanced products and technologies. The role provides technical leadership and assistance to the project teams to ensure they deliver on cost, quality, schedule, and technical goals. It also works closely with project management to plan and execute activities to meet customer expectations.
Location:
Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite 3–4 days a week). An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.
The Ideal Candidate:
A strategic and innovative engineer with an active (or recently inactive) U.S. Security clearance and experience with systems integration of high design assurance embedded systems, capable of making well‑judged decisions in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Systems Integration:
Design, plan, and execute integration activities of software and hardware optimizing performance, cost, quality, and interoperability.
Validation and Verification:
Drive validation and verification planning activities for the overall product/system, including system‑level testing according to industry standards (e.g., ARP4754).
System Integration Lab (SIL) Design and Build:
Work with cross‑functional teams to develop a suite of models, simulations, and hardware interfaces used for testing systems against intended operational requirements.
Risk Management:
Apply critical thinking toward proactive identification and abatement of technical risk to minimize project impact.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate expertise and knowledge within multiple technical domains to drive an analytical approach toward integration and verification of a holistic mission‑focused architectural solution.
Best Practices:
Understand and develop best practices that accelerate LEAN operations and differentiate the market.
Problem‑Solving:
Propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address complex problems.
Decision‑Making:
Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to make decisions.
Resource for Colleagues:
Act as a resource and mentor for less experienced colleagues.
Team Consensus Building:
Develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field.
Communication:
Report to senior leadership on technical status of ongoing projects.
Bids & Proposals:
Respond to requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP) providing estimates of resource costs and proposed technical approach.
Strategy Deployment:
Support the development of product and technical roadmaps.
Customer Engagement:
Work closely with the Program Manager (PM) and Engineering Project Manager (EPM) to collaborate with the customer throughout the project.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field from an accredited university.
5+ years of systems engineering project execution experience.
5+ years product development experience.
Eligibility Requirements
U.S. Citizen & DoD Secret Clearance: This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and is open only to U.S. Citizens. Proof of status will be required prior to employment.
This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
Applicants with Secret Clearance within the past 24 months may be eligible for consideration.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working on military programs.
Experience with high design assurance embedded systems preferably in defense, safety‑critical automotive, aerospace or healthcare.
Hands‑on capability to handle test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.), data bus capturing tools, scripting languages (Python, C, C#), source code (Assembly) and Excel data manipulation.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies.
Experience with NSA certification processes.
Awareness of aerospace standards and regulations such as DO-178, DO-254, etc.
Systems plan development experience (e.g., ARP4754).
Understanding and practice of basic project management concepts.
Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Experience leading and coordinating with internal and external partners.
Experience with global cross‑functional teams and the ability to work individually and in teams.

The base pay range for this position is $90,800.00 - $121,100.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 10/31/25.
