Job Description
Under the guidance of the Waste Processing Supervisor, the Waste Processing Team Lead oversees a team of environmental technicians performing routine manual and heavy labor tasks to consolidate, treat, store, pack, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with Clean Earth policies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Segregate and package material for transport and complete required paperwork in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.
- Oversee large projects and jobs with the ability to manage a team of technicians.
- Communicate schedule, distribute work to team, and assist team in performance of job duties.
- Train technicians and operators on the job in equipment operation, service line processes, and necessary paperwork.
- Follow all Health & Safety and Job Safety Analysis procedures as outlined in Clean Earth’s procedures.
- Operate fork trucks and other heavy equipment when properly trained to move materials.
- Collect samples of inbound waste for laboratory analysis.
- Perform onsite testing of unknown materials according to Clean Earth’s policies.
- Maintain records for DOT and State Officials as assigned.
- Assist in other areas of the location as directed, including occasional travel to customer sites.
- Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.
Work Environment
- Required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
- Must be able to pass a DEA background check when relevant.
- Must be willing and able to abide by Clean Earth’s Core Values and Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Driver License with clean driving record
- 40-Hour Hazwoper with current 8-hour refresher (preferred)
- 2+ years of hazardous waste experience
- Must be clean shaven for respirator usage in the RCRA Part B facility
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years in a hazardous waste field service environment
- Able to manage and oversee a large project/job with supervision of personnel
- Knowledge of facility permit, DOT packaging requirements and exempts as well as expanded knowledge of waste routing and disposal, Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations
- Effective communication with internal and external customers
- Operates various equipment throughout facility, e.g., forklift, two‑wheeled hand dolly, conveyor system, dock plate
- Problem solving and adapt to change quickly and effectively
- Performs functions safely and productively according to established policies and procedures
- Ability to conduct and lead daily safety meetings
- Trains environmental technicians to work compliantly and safely
