The City of Saint Paul Regional Water Services is hiring an IT Support Specialist serving as a key member of the Information Services team, with primary responsibility for blending desktop and endpoint support with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and supporting end-user computing needs across a diverse device environment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to user requests by assisting with common issues such as password resets, account lockouts, network access, printing, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for more complex problems including operating system errors, profile corruption, performance issues, and device reimaging.
  • Support virtual desktop environments by assisting with golden image updates, desktop pool configurations, and resolving VDI session issues (VMware Horizon or Citrix preferred).
  • Administer user accounts, group policies, and security settings within Active Directory and related tools.
  • Assist with device lifecycle management, including laptops, thin clients, ruggedized field devices, and mobile hardware.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance and stability of the environment.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to knowledge base articles to improve service delivery.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Technology, or a related field and two (2) years of work experience related to Information Technology Support or a vacancy-related technical school certificate and four (4) years of work experience related to Information Technology Support.

A combination of education and experience to equal 6 years or more can be used to qualify for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting VDI environments (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix, or similar).
