Through a network of more than 10,000 providers and 94 hospitals, Community serves over 400,000 members with programs such as Medicaid STAR, CHIP, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and Community Health Choice HMO D‑SNP. Community is accredited by URAC and offers care‑management programs for asthma, diabetes, and high‑risk pregnancy. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) owns the clinical strategy for Medical Affairs, Quality, and Medical Management while building sustainable programs that improve outcomes for our members. Key responsibilities include care‑management oversight, quality/STAR rating improvement, utilization management, health system transformation, implementation of medical programs/policies, enhancing provider relationships, industry advocacy, and regulatory compliance. The CMO reports to Community’s CEO and leads a team of medical directors, pharmacy, quality, and other clinical program directors. Responsibilities
Develop and execute clinical strategy for Medical Affairs, Quality, and Medical Management. Oversee care‑management programs and drive quality improvement initiatives. Manage utilization, health system transformation, and implementation of medical programs and policies. Enhance relationships with providers and facilities and lead industry policy advocacy. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and state Medicaid managed‑care requirements. Qualifications
MD or DO with Texas licensure and board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or OB/GYN (primary care specialties preferred). At least 12 years of clinical experience, including 5 years of administrative experience in managed care and leadership of physicians and clinical staff. Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, or Medical Administration preferred. Special Requirements
Advanced communication skills: above average verbal (heavy public contact) and exceptional written correspondence. Analytical, medical terminology, and statistical skills. Strong leadership experience, strategic vision, and proven ability to execute clinical initiatives are mandatory. Flexible work schedule and previous Medicaid managed‑care experience working with state regulators preferred. Seniority Level
