Malcolm X College is currently seeking a
Full-Time Faculty
to teach Surgical Technology. If you have a passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving. Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning. Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students problem-solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies. Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning and achievement of course outcomes. Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals by fostering a respectful environment that values diversity and models respect for all students. Contribute to and provide leadership within students’ academic and professional communities, promoting collaboration and teamwork. QUALIFICATIONS:
Per Chicago Credential Guidelines for the 2024/25 Academic Year: Be a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and possess a credential through a national certification program accredited by the NCCA. Have a minimum of two years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as a surgical technology instructor within the past five years. Master’s Degree or NBSTSA-approved credential in Surgical Technology and relevant experience are preferred. Teaching experience at higher education or high school levels is preferred. Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS is preferred. Prior online teaching experience and/or certification is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to engage with a diverse group of staff and students are required. Experience with a multilingual student population and a commitment to open access are desired.
