Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and other heavy equipment for cleaning, grading, and installing drainage and pipe systems.
• Operate graders, dozers, loaders, boom, mowers, grapple trucks, rollers, sweepers, and other heavy equipment.
• Hand excavate areas where existing utilities have been located to protect utilities during task execution.

Education / Experience

High school graduate / GED supplemented by a minimum of five years of working experience operating various types of heavy equipment.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations

• Must possess a valid Class E Driver’s License.
• A valid Florida Class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker and/or hazmat and tanker endorsements is preferred. Holders of a Class A or B CDL are eligible for incentive pay based on the CDL license classification and endorsements.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Knowledge of the safe operation and capabilities of various types of heavy construction equipment.

Knowledge of operating principles and maintenance needs of various types of heavy construction equipment.

Knowledge of highway safety rules and regulations necessary to operate heavy construction equipment along active roadways.

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Ability to move heavy objects and endure strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed outside under varying weather conditions.
