Pain Management NP/PA opening in Dayton, OH Position Details

  • FT, permanent position
  • Reports to: Collaborating Physician(s) and APP Manager
  • Role: Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
  • Setting: Inpatient consults + Outpatient clinic
  • EMR: Epic preferred
  • Summary The Pain Management Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. In collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, the APP is responsible for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management. This role includes participation in committees, patient/family education, and system-level quality improvement efforts. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive pain management care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
  • Conduct inpatient consults and participate in outpatient clinic care
  • Develop care plans, prescribe within licensure/scope, and apply evidence-based practices
  • Participate in committees including Opioid Stewardship, Sickle Cell, and Pain Device
  • Collaborate with physicians through the Standard Care Agreement to optimize outcomes
  • Train and perform procedures including pain blocks, nerve blocks, and pain pump management
  • Support safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery across populations served
  • Part of a robust Clinical Neuroscience Institute with a multidisciplinary approach to pain management
  • Qualifications
  • Master Äôs degree from an accredited NP/PA program Äì Required
  • Valid license to practice as APRN or PA in Ohio (or eligibility to obtain) Äì Required
  • National Certification as NP or PA Äì Required
  • Current AHA BLS certification Äì Required
  • Certificate to Prescribe (current and maintained) Äì Required
  • APRN/PA experience required
  • Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of professional medical practice and HIPAA compliance
  • Competence in patient history, assessment, and clinical decision-making
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain effective under interruptions
  • EMR experience required (Epic preferred); computer literacy in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Capable of reacting calmly and effectively in emergency situations
