Senior Network Engineer Location
Richmond, VA (Onsite) Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (Sr NE) to implement and provide support to the agency’s IT Network infrastructure. The Sr NE performs day-to-day activities related to the support, documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of organization’s network related infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
Considerable knowledge and working experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers (including ability to document, set up, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot). Be capable of troubleshooting network related infrastructure. Identify and diagnose system problems using line monitors, diagnostic software, and test equipment. Work closely with agency’s IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather requirements, specifications, and configurations to assure they are accurate and up to date. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime. Oversee installation, documentation, and upgrades of various agency facility data network infrastructure. Collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations. Provide documentation, network architecture topology diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, and access controls when required. Work independently on assigned projects. Must have minimally obtained an industry standard networking certification (example: Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA- Junos, etc.). Required Skills & Qualifications
Considerable knowledge and hands-on working experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and wireless access points. Hands-on experience setting up, configuring, upgrading, managing, and troubleshooting routers/switches and WAPs. Design, install, and troubleshoot local‑area and wide‑area enterprise networks. Experience monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security, architecture policies, and standards. Experience creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures with fault tolerance. Experience performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery. Experience creating network diagrams using industry standard tools such as Visio. Knowledge of networking features and protocols such as ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec, etc. Experience working with SDWAN. Industry standard networking certification (example: Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA- Junos, etc.). Questions
