Job Overview

The Bridge is searching for a Bilingual Shelter Advocate to provide legal advocacy, crisis intervention, case management and support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in a 100‑bed Emergency Shelter. Key Responsibilities

Conduct intake, safety planning, and regular one‑on‑one case management meetings to develop goals and provide referrals. Provide crisis intervention and staff 24‑hour hotline on an as‑needed basis. Advocate for residents by attending legal proceedings, providing legal referrals and educational information. Assist with documentation of services for referral to other social service agencies and prepare documentation in compliance with grant objectives. Implement monthly calendar of culturally relevant life‑skill building, psycho‑educational, and empowerment activities for adult residents with staff and volunteers. Required Skills & Qualifications

Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/GED with minimum one year’s social services experience acceptable. Bilingual: English and Spanish. Must rotate on‑call responsibility 2‑3 24‑hour shifts per month to accompany victims at local hospitals, police departments, schools, etc. Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence dynamics, related laws and an overview of the legal system. Ability to establish rapport and work with at‑risk populations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently. Other Requirements

Pass criminal background investigation, drug screen, and provide current TX driver’s license. Maintain clean driving record; annually update driving record. Maintain current auto liability insurance. Authorized to work in the U.S. Must be able to lift/carry 40 lbs and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting.
