Environmental Engineer 7 CDM Smith

CDM Smith’s Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist to model contaminant transport through sediment caps and support remediation projects across the United States.

Responsibilities

Understand scientific and engineering principles of modeling contaminant fate and transport through sediment caps in subaqueous systems.

Use CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and soil excavation projects.

Perform slope stability modeling.

Develop and execute field sampling programs and analyze data to support site conceptual models and mass balances.

Develop and calibrate numerical or desktop models for sediment remediation.

Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assist in design development for large, multi‑stakeholder sites.

Serve as primary interface with clients on complex sediment tasks, assessing problems and communicating technical strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Professional Engineering (PE) license.

12 years of related experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science or related discipline.

Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing FE exam within 18 months of hire.

Driver's License Requirements An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.

Travel 10% travel required.

Skills and Abilities

Expert knowledge of CAD and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software.

Expert understanding of engineering principles of design.

Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
