Position Summary Level II Technician will provide services including but not limited to theatrical rigging, lighting, sound reinforcement, computer media/projection, scenic installation as well as customer relations. The technician will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of lighting equipment and inventory as well as the knowledge and operations of theater lighting and sound consoles. The technician must work with the theater management team to advance bookings and facilitate an inclusive performance environment at The Salvation Army Joan B. Kroc Theater.
Essential Functions
Work with Technical Production Managers in operating and programming lighting and sound consoles for productions.
Instruct others in basic console operations.
Maintain knowledge of technical inventory.
Work independently.
Perform basic lighting design and sound installation.
Maintain and operate theater lighting equipment.
Operate counterweighted fly system.
Read lighting plots, mic plots, and patch equipment accordingly.
Program, operate, & maintain sound and lighting equipment during all technical and dress rehearsals, as well as productions.
Working Conditions Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist as needed. Ability to lift 40 lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects including files, file cabinets, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer and telephone.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Prior technical theatre experience required.
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to follow instructions.
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army.
Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of arts-oriented instruction.
Must successfully complete the Protecting The Mission Abuse Prevention training as established by The Salvation Army.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Excellent time management.
Good computer operation & navigation.
Experience with hand tools.
Basic rigging experience.
Backstage etiquette.
Ability to accept constructive criticism.
Pose a philosophy of education and child development consistent with The Salvation Army.
Ability to work with parents, children, & staff as a leader & mentor in theater operations.
Interact with children of all ages in a joyful, sensitive, & respectful manner.
Display positive behavior modeling & establish consistent professional boundaries.
Handle security or crisis matters calmly & professionally.
Problem solving with a positive attitude, consulting with Manager when situationally necessary.
