Software Engineer - Fort Leavenworth, KS
Serco is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Software Engineer within the Innovations Section of the Data Visualization Team (DVT), U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Technical Support Group (TSG). This position is located in Fort Leavenworth, KS and is contingent upon the ability to obtain, maintain, and transfer an active DoD Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
Implement solutions from design through deployment and configuration for native Microsoft Windows applications involving Microsoft Office Integration, Relational Database, and Winforms.
Develop SharePoint and Teams solutions utilizing SQL Server and MS Access, with output in Excel and PowerPoint.
Use the Microsoft Development Environment (Visual Studio IDE) and Office Interop for automation.
Create and utilize virtual machines using VMWare, Proxmox, Hyper‑V, or VirtualBox.
Provide basic system administration and operations skills for interfacing with servers and services.
Manage projects and report status.
Produce design documents, development timelines, data and logical diagrams, release notes, test plans, user guides, training material, and other software documentation.
Set up development and test environments.
Assist with creation and maintenance of Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux baseline system images.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship.
Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a closely related field.
Completion of MCTP/US Army/DoD training requirements, including CompTIA Security+ Certification within six months, annual training certifications directed by the organization, and annual Serco training requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Programming experience in C#, SQL, Java, JavaScript, VBA, PowerShell, BASH, XML, JSON, MSI, Microsoft Installer packaging, RPM, and Redhat packaging.
Travel up to 10% of the time.
Availability for weekend and/or night‑shift assignments during MCTP WFX execution (infrequent).
Availability for on‑call 24/7 support during MCTP WFX execution up to 16 weeks per year.
Additional Desired Experience
Active DoD Secret security clearance.
Experience developing applications for cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Experience with AI‑integrated development tools or applications.
Knowledge of RMF security requirements as they apply to software and computer systems.
Relevant certifications.
Experience with Microsoft Windows 11 and Redhat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
Experience with Git, bug/feature tracking, and project management tools.
Additional programming experience in Pearl, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, web‑oriented languages, relational database management systems such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, C++, C, VisualBASIC.NET.
