Gen AI Developer position supporting the BEAGLE (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology) Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Team for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client in Northern Virginia. This role involves supporting Agile Software Development practices for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The BEAGLE ASF Team supports personnel safeguarding the American people and enhancing national safety, security, and prosperity. The team collaborates with CBP agents and officers across customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection to deliver integrated solutions. ASF programs encourage innovation and creative input to solve complex technical and procedural challenges at team and portfolio levels. You will contribute to developing innovative software solutions as part of a technically diverse and geographically distributed team, with a strong passion for AI technologies and experience in agile delivery and short sprints. Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement custom software solutions for AI/ML pilot projects and use cases. Work with cloud services and platforms (AWS and Google), including deploying, managing, and scaling applications; understand cloud architecture and design systems for horizontal scalability and high availability. Act as a member of prototyping teams, collaborating to deliver working software on short timelines. Analyze technically complex problems and develop innovative solutions in a fast-moving prototyping environment. Analyze complex project-related problems and create innovative solutions involving technology, methodology, tools, and solution components. Actively participate in agile delivery phases and ceremonies including release and sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, demonstrations, and retrospectives. Stay current with the latest advancements in AI technologies, tools, and best practices. Qualifications

Required Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation (3-year felony check, 1-year checks for illegal drug use and misconduct such as theft or fraud). College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 7+ years of full stack development experience with expertise in multiple programming languages or a related role. Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Angular. Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (primarily Postgres vector databases). Expertise in multiple software languages including Python, Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Familiar with DevSecOps. Familiarity with Google Vertex AI or AWS Bedrock implementations and various LLM usage. Experience developing and working with APIs, including RESTful services, authentication methods, data formats, and handling API errors. Ability to collaborate with Data Scientist teams to integrate applications with AI/ML, Big Data, or BI solutions. Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with on-site requirement in Ashburn, VA. Desired Technical certifications such as AWS Certified Developer and AWS AI Certified Practitioner. Experience with DevOps (CI/CD) solutions such as GitLab. Experience with AI/ML solutions or complex predictive analytics (e.g., Google Vertex AI and AWS Bedrock). Experience working in geographically dispersed, remote teams. Understanding of Data Science principles and best practices. Ability to work independently on complex tasks with minimal direction and management oversight.
