South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) is a tuition‑free, K–12 online public school launched in 2008–09 under contract to the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School. SCCA is South Carolina’s first virtual charter school, authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District, serving students in grades K–12 from anywhere in South Carolina.

Position Summary

Working from home, the School Psychologist supports students’ learning, social development, and mental and behavioral health. The primary responsibility is to conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and collaborate with educators, families, and professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct thorough psychological evaluations using a variety of assessment tools for students in grades K–12. Administer, score, and interpret standardized tests to assess cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Compile detailed evaluation reports with findings, recommendations, and interventions. Consult and collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to gather information and promote effective implementation of services. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to assist in planning evaluations, explain findings, and aid in IEP development. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all evaluations and documentation. Use data to drive services and supports for students in individual or small group settings related to cognitive skills, socialization, learning, and mental or behavioral health. Provide professional services consistent with SC Connections Academy Keys of care, inclusivity, excellence, innovation, and ownership. Apply research foundations and technology resources for data collection, measurement, and analysis to support effective practices at individual, group, and systems levels. Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards in professional decision‑making and collaboration. Stay current with best practices in psychological assessment and school psychology. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current School Psychologist license/certificate issued by the SC Department of Education. National School Psychologist Certification (preferred). Proven experience in conducting psychological evaluations in a school setting; virtual experience preferred. Strong knowledge of assessment tools and techniques. Strong technology skills (especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite). Excellent communication skills. Highly organized and punctual. Customer‑focused approach. High flexibility, problem solving, consultation, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment. Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two‑step authentication.
