Garden City Hospital Detroit Metro Area, MichiganAbout the Opportunity:Garden City Hospital, located in the heart of the Detroit metro area, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Medical Director to lead our robust Emergency Department. This is a rewarding opportunity to oversee clinical operations, drive quality initiatives, and continue your own clinical practice in a supportive, community-focused environment.Position Highlights:Role: Emergency Medicine Medical DirectorMix:Clinical: 100 hours/month (flexible mix of day, mid, and night shifts)Administrative: Remaining time dedicated to leadership duties throughout the week (some admin tasks and meetings can be performed remotely)Total Hours: 144 hours/monthAbout the Emergency Department:Annual Volume: 36,000 visitsBeds: 32 main ED beds + 6 fast track bedsTrauma Designation: Level III (anything beyond stabilization is transferred to Beaumont)Patient Load: 2 patients per hour, moderate acuityCoverage: Typically staffed with 2 physicians and 1 APP on shiftShift Structure:Day and Night shifts: 12 hoursMid shifts: 8 hoursEMR: EpicDirector Responsibilities:Provide clinical leadership and administrative oversight for the ED teamEnsure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered careParticipate in departmental hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and educationDrive performance improvement initiatives and maintain regulatory complianceServe as liaison between the ED team and hospital administrationParticipate in hospital leadership meetings and strategy discussionsIdeal Candidate:Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM)Minimum 5 years of experience as an attending emergency physicianAt least 2 years of leadership experience (Medical Director, Associate Director, or similar)Strong team-building, communication, and operational skillsWhy Garden City Hospital?A vibrant community hospital with over 70 years of service to western Wayne County and the greater Detroit areaRecognized for quality care, with a history of awards including IBM Watsons Top 100 Hospitals and Healthgrades Patient Safety ExcellenceFamily-friendly community with affordable living, excellent schools, and close access to Detroits sports, cultural, and dining attractionsSupportive hospital administration committed to investing in emergency services and staff growth
