JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Computer Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
• Such other qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may deem acceptable and appropriate
REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To provide service in the maintenance and installation of technology resources
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides IT support for all users
• Provides local LAN, hardware, and software support
• Designs, installs, and maintains LAN hardware configurations including file servers, e-mail servers, application servers, desktops, and laptops
• Repairs and maintains all computers
• Installs and maintains network wiring facilities
• Evaluates, acquires, tests, and installs all desktop, server and client software, and ensures licensing compliance
• Resolves all inter-software compatibility issues
• Supports network service (DNS, DHCP, Remote Access)
• Installs software and hardware upgrades
• Schedules installations to create the least interference with instructional time
• Compiles computer specifications for bids
• Assists in the purchase of computer/electronics/software
• Schedules repair calls on electronic equipment
• Plans and directs training to ensure the quality of the technology department
• Supervises yearly maintenance on District computers and other technology resources
• Maintains a computer/technology repair inventory
• Performs monthly and yearly preventive maintenance schedules
• Demonstrates a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards
• Maintains punctuality
• Adheres to all NBCSD policies and procedures as well as comply with the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics
• Performs other responsibilities/duties as designated by the Technology Coordinator and Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year established by NBCSD School Board
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
