Psychiatrist 1 & 2 (NY HELPS), Central New York Psychiatric Center – Green Haven Satellite
$294,307 - $306,859 / yr (Base pay range). Salary is based on skills and experience.
Duties Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services. They provide comprehensive, recovery‑oriented psychiatric treatment built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists ensure that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Psychopharmacology is an integral component of modern mental health treatment; psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers.
Assistant Psychiatrists assist in providing psychiatric care to individuals under direct supervision of a licensed psychiatrist or physician.
Psychiatrists 1 diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care to assigned individuals under the direction of a higher‑level psychiatrist or physician.
Psychiatrists 2 independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care to assigned individuals; provide clinical supervision and guidance to lower‑level psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers; may manage care and treatment services for an assigned facility, unit, or program.
Minimum Qualifications • License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). • One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law (for State Service candidates). • Psychiatrist 1: Completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. • Psychiatrist 2: Certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000
Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage
OMH sponsored Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program

Eligibility In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists. If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists, you may be terminated from your employment. Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.
