BIM Coordinator (Visual Design Construction)
Work Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
Position Classification: Full Time Exempt
About This Opportunity
Rockford is seeking a key member of our Virtual Design Construction team. The role involves leading BIM coordination processes and assisting project teams with the implementation of technology, Building Information Models, and Virtual Design and Construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Work closely with the MEP & VDC Manager to support pre-construction, design, and project management teams with daily and long-term duties, tasks, and training.
- Assist in developing and maintaining BIM-related contracts and documents.
- Explore additional VDC applications such as 4D scheduling, 5D cost, and nD.
- Manage and analyze models from architects, engineers, trade contractors, and consultants to identify coordination and constructability issues.
- Develop 3D models in Revit for coordination purposes.
- Conduct BIM coordination meetings with construction, design teams, and trade contractors.
- Manage the coordination process, perform clash detection, visual walkthroughs, and ensure clash-free signoff to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Perform field checks for QA/QC and produce site reports.
- Conduct BIM close-out, including final as-built models.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Computer Science.
- At least one year of construction technology experience.
- Understanding of basic construction processes, procedures, and technologies.
- Knowledge of VDC and BIM within a business context.
- Familiarity with construction management software and cloud platforms.
- Experience with VDC/BIM software such as Navisworks Manage, Revit, Autodesk CAD, SketchUp.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors and Working Conditions
This role involves office work, warehouse activities, and site visits. Physical demands include sitting or standing for long periods, lifting up to 60 lbs., bending, kneeling, and climbing. Site visits may expose individuals to hazards like noise, moving vehicles, weather, and uneven surfaces. PPE is required on project sites.
