We are looking for someone with strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize diverse and time-sensitive tasks. As an Accounts Principal Risk Specialist at Capital One you’ll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.
This role will lead the process and controls around initiation, payment, analysis, and confirmation of supplier payments by ensuring accurate and timely information submitted to the Accounts Payable Team. Furthermore, this role will be surrounded by intellectually curious professionals every day, with the shared goal of creating a seamless, well managed, and controlled AP process.
Responsibilities
Operational lead in our Accounts Payable and Interunit Settlement spaces
Serve as interdepartmental liaison, interfacing with lines of business and staff functions such as Enterprise Supplier Management, Treasury, Accounting, technology partners and other areas of Risk
Managing multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines; leveraging/influencing team partners to drive results
Initiating and executing process improvements and leveraging other team members when appropriate
Drive issue resolution, pursue education opportunities, and deliver automation wins
Continued analysis of end to end payment value stream with focus on identifying control gaps as new processes are implemented
Ensure that processes, controls, and change initiatives are well managed, governed, and demonstrable to Audit, regulatory agencies and internal lines of defenses
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of experience in Accounting, OR Finance OR Risk Management OR a combination
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Accounting OR Finance OR Risk Management OR a combination
2+ years of experience in Business Process Management OR Project Management OR Relationship Management OR a combination
3+ years experience with Accounts Payable Interunit in foreign currencies
2+ years of experience in Microsoft Office or G- Suite
1+ year of experience in Change management
Previous experience with Regulation W and Intercompany Agreements
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification

Location-based Salary Ranges
McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk Specialist
Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist
Wilmington, DE: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist
This role is eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
