In the Aerospace Mechanics Department, this Senior Design Analyst will design and analyze advanced structural and thermal engineering solutions for missile, projectile and small satellite programs. The role offers significant autonomy to formulate analytical approaches, solve complex engineering problems, lead projects, present technical findings, and serve as the prime technical contact on identifiable projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess and develop requirements.

Primary point of contact for missile, projectile or small satellite structural or thermal analyses.

Support planning, budgeting, and status tracking for analytical tasks.

Facilitate rapid resolution of technical delays impacting tasks with clear communication to engineering and program teams.

Collaborate with GA and customer engineering and program management.

Create documentation and deliver technical presentations.

Review, adapt, and edit technical documents as required.

Develop innovative, economical, and manufacturable engineering solutions to advanced problems.

Serve as focal technical point for internal management and external customers or regulatory agencies.

Present reports at engineering meetings, participate in program reviews, and consult on structural or thermal analysis issues.

Perform detailed analyses of part or subassembly structures or thermal characteristics.

Provide expert guidance and consultancy on challenging engineering problems.

Anticipate future engineering needs and necessary modifications.

Address complex technical issues with novel and creative approaches.

Assume technical and engineering responsibility for identifiable projects.

Direct activities of design or technical staff; may lead a moderate team.

Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related discipline with progressive experience: 15+ years with a bachelor’s, 13+ years with a master’s, or 10+ years with a PhD; equivalent engineering experience may substitute education.

Must possess DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to Top Secret if needed.

Demonstrates extensive technical expertise in warhead engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice; experienced in project leadership and schedule management.

Significant structural analytical experience using Ansys, Simcenter, and NASTRAN.

Significant thermal analytical experience using Ansys, Thermal Desktop, Simcenter, and ablation codes.

Familiarity with SolidWorks and CREO for model import and PDMPro and Windchill workflow.

Experience modeling passive (tapes, coatings, etc.) and active thermal control systems.

Experience correlating experimental and environmental testing with FEM results.

Extensive understanding of advanced aerospace materials and their properties to produce unique design solutions.

Familiarity with MBE/MBSE is desired.

Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective interfacing with departments and representing the organization as a prime technical contact.

Customer‑focused, plans based on innovative design to resolve advanced engineering problems.

Self‑initiated and able to work in a team environment.

Able to work extended hours and travel as required.

A Professional Engineering License, awarded patents or published original work, and invited to present at engineering symposia are desirable.

Salary Full‑Time Salary range: $128,130 – $229,358.

Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level.
