Lead and oversee comprehensive inspections, advanced testing, and in-depth troubleshooting of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance. Independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in fire alarm systems, including interconnected systems and networked fire alarm/mass notification systems. Manage and maintain detailed records of service activities, including system analyses, recommendations for improvements, and redline drawings for as-built preparation. Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and support in executing service tasks and ensuring quality service delivery. Participate in project planning, system design, and implementation efforts to enhance fire alarm system functionality and compliance with NFPA 72 and other applicable codes. Conduct site surveys for fire alarm system upgrades, develop bills of materials, labor projections, and schedules, and perform pre-testing and final acceptance testing with Fire Marshal. Collaborate with colleagues, building owners, and managers to deliver seamless service, address system deficiencies, and optimize performance. Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes to uphold compliance and industry standards. Perform complex programming of various types of fire alarm systems and troubleshoot issues to maintain system functionality. Demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction in all service activities. Qualifications
Minimum of high school degree and eight years of related experience or two years technology degree and five years related experience. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III or pass NICET III exam within 90 days of employment. Notifier Certification or pass Notifier exam within 180 days of employment. VESDA Certification or pass VESDA exam within 180 days of employment. Additional Requirements
Ability to obtain Secret clearance. Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA requirements. Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. Excellent communication skills with customers, field personnel, office staff, and sub‑contractors. Excellent decision‑making skills. Strong leadership skills. Abilities
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. Perform routine tasks such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Possess good vision, hearing, and effective communication in English. Use standard ladders within weight limits while carrying tools. Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. Apply general rules to specific problems and produce sensible answers.
