Key Responsibilities
Monitoring Systems: Regularly monitoring and inspecting central plant systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Equipment Operation: Operating and controlling equipment to maintain optimal conditions for HVAC systems, such as regulating temperature, humidity, and air quality.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues with the central plant equipment, conducting repairs, or coordinating maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. This includes monitoring fuel usage, emissions, and waste disposal.
Collaboration: Coordinating with other facility staff, engineers, and maintenance personnel to optimize plant performance and address any issues that may arise.
Position Requirements
2-5 years of experience as a Central Plant Operator or in a similar role.
Hands‑on experience with central utility systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and related equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, diagnose problems and make data‑driven decisions to optimize system performance.
Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt to new technologies and stay updated on industry advancements.
Experience in implementing and adhering to safety standards to ensure a secure working environment.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) systems and operational logic.
Preferred
Collaborative mindset to work effectively with a team of facility professionals.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with other facility staff and convey information effectively with the ability to report system status, issues, and resolutions clearly and concisely.
Agility in addressing unexpected challenges, with the ability to quickly assess situations and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
Willingness to take initiative in suggesting improvements, implementing best practices, and contributing to the overall efficiency of central plant operations.
Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) and control logic, including system schematics and physical wiring.
