Terracon is seeking an Environmental Staff Industrial Hygienist for our growing Asbestos, Lead and Industrial Hygiene (IH) practice in our Winter Park, Florida office. The Staff Industrial Hygienist is responsible for preparing proposals, carrying out more in-depth and complex field investigations and writing the associated reports under the direction of senior management and other leadership. The Staff Industrial Hygienist will lead projects and other staff personnel across a variety of local and national projects to eventually become proficient in completing investigations on their own. Studying for and obtaining job related certifications are required and will be supported by Terracon. Responsibilities
Lead and Participate in Asbestos, Mold, Lead, and Industrial Hygiene Surveys Indoor Air Quality Investigations Asbestos, Mold, Lead, and Industrial Hygiene Project Oversight Phase Contrast Microscopy Sample Analysis Occupational Health Exposure Assessments Preparation and Delivery of Technical Reports Conduct tasks related to project monitoring, asbestos / lead inspections, indoor air quality (IAQ) / mold assessments, and / or other project assignments as appropriate Analyze laboratory data Prepare draft reports for review by senior management Maintain consistent communication of project progress with senior management from start to finish of the project Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy Under the direction of senior level staff, prepare proposals and cost estimates for new projects Self-motivated and ability to work without supervision Promote a positive client experience Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with other field personal and management Business awareness : specific knowledge of the customer and how Terracon can bring value to the marketplace Physical ability to carry equipment up to 35 pounds, climb ladders, get in and out of basements and attic spaces, etc. Periodic out-of-area travel for projects including some stays up to a week Ability to work at state and governmental facilities Ability to wear a respirator Ability to work in moldy / dusty environments (proper PPE provided) Knowledge, Skills, and / or Abilities Required
Ability to study and pass various certification programs Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of technical reports Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize work Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Willingness for regional travel for business Ability to pass a background check for Federal and school facilities Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field, Minimum 5 years’ experience Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history Certification as asbestos and or lead inspector, NIOSH 582 certification, mold certification or IH experience Preferred
Florida-Licensed Asbestos Consultant (LAC) AHERA-Certified Asbestos Building Inspector, Management Planner, and Project Designer. Florida-Licensed Mold Assessor. Florida-Certified Radon Measurement Technician or Specialist.
